Three consortia have put in bids for the state government’s planned $1.8 billion contract to upgrade Wyndham roads.

The government announced last week that Netflow, the Western Improvement Network and Western Roads Partnerships have been shortlisted for the arterial road upgrades, with the contract to be awarded later this year.

The successful tender will take on eight road projects encompassing seven of Wyndham’s main arterial routes, including sections of Dunnings, Palmers, Derrimut, Leakes, Dohertys, Forsyth and Duncans roads.

The upgrades will include duplication and widening works, intersection modifications and new shared use paths.

A spokesman for Werribee MP Tim Pallas said construction would start early next year, with the works to be staggered over four years until late 2021.

The timing and scheduling of construction is still being determined.

Wyndham council director Kate Roffey told Star Weekly last month that the package included $1.2 billion to upgrade roads in Wyndham and $600 million for road maintenance throughout the west.

Meanwhile, residents still have a month to have their say on the planned road upgrades.
