A second man has been arrested after gun shots were fired on Monday that resulted in frightened Point Cook residents being ordered to hide in their homes.

Police executed a search warrant in Wyndham Vale on Tuesday afternoon and arrested a 32-year-old man, charging him with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing a firearm.

A 27-year-old South Melbourne man was also charged on Tuesday with possessing proceeds of crime, possessing ammunition and other drug-related offences.

Frightened residents had to stay in their homes when a number of shots were fired in Adelphi Boulevard just after 5.30pm on Monday.

Locals were told to barricade themselves inside as Special Operations Group police responded to reports of a shooting near an apartment block and shops.

No one was harmed in the shooting.

Adelphi Boulevard resident Debbie Richardson said she was standing on her balcony when she noticed police swarming the street below.

“I stayed [outside] and watched what was happening, more cars and police vans appeared then the special operations team showed up as the police helicopter circled above,” she said.

Ms Richardson said she then noticed police were blocking entry points to the nearby Soho Village shops and adjoining apartment block.

“I later spoke to a policeman outside who told me that there was a shooting in one of the apartments at Soho Village and that they were looking for someone,” Ms Richardson said.

“We were told told to stay inside with doors and windows locked.”
