Everything’s coming up roses at Werribee Park this spring.

The annual State Rose and Garden Show will be held at the Victorian State Rose Garden on November 10 and 11, offering the perfect chance for locals to wander through the garden’s display of more than 5000 roses in every colour imaginable.

The free event will include plant care demonstrations and talks by some of Australia’s most respected gardening experts, including rose specialist Kim Syrus from Channel Nine’s

In The Garden, horticulturalist Craig Castree, Gardenettes Melissa King and Chloe Thompson and SBS’s Vasili Kanidiadis.

There will be plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, including lawn games, face-painting and gardening workshops.

Mr Kanidiadis will be on hand during the weekend to share his extensive knowledge of gardening and to help with any gardening conundrums.

He said the secret to growing beautiful roses was prudent pruning.

“Prune them and feed them well and keep them on a dry site and they’ll love you forever,” he said. “Not too much water and plenty of feeding.”
