A popular local restaurant has been donating free meals to nurses at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee.

Wolf on Watton staff have been cooking and delivering the meals to the hospital, as part of efforts to support healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The meals are also being donated to St Vincent’s nurses because 2020 is the World Health Organisation’s International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, which encourages communities to express gratitude for the work nurses and midwives do.

Wolf on Watton director Nathan Salvalaggio said: “We are excited to give back to the community, in particular, our local doctors and nurses at St. Vincent’s Hospital Werribee.

“This is a small gesture to show our support and thanks for our local heroes.”

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee general manager and director of clinical services, Libby Fifis, said she was “constantly in awe of the generosity and community support that is demonstrated in Werribee”.

She thanked the Wolf on Watton team for delivering meals to nurses.

“This act of generosity is a great demonstration of community support and the hospitality industry rallying around health care workers,” she said.

“Being new to the area it has been a humbling experience to see how Wyndham have banned together during such a difficult time.”
