Carly Schulz and Leighton Brow know all about maximising space. The two contestants in TV’s Reno Rumble home renovation show experienced a room ‘reveal’ of a different kind when they visited the backyard studio of 18-year-old Point Cook student Kayla, who is a beneficiary of their chosen charity, Kids Under Cover. The youth homelessness-prevention charity helped Kayla (pictured, centre, with Leighton and Carly) by building a studio in her carer’s backyard to give her the space to study in private. “I was living with my grandparents and four other children in a three-bedroom house,” Kayla said. “All three of us girls were in one bedroom, making it really difficult to study.” Kayla is studying to become a social worker. Kids Under Cover missed out on a further $50,000 when Carly and Leighton narrowly missed out on winning Reno Rumble last month.
