Wyndham council will host several events during Reconciliation Week, which will run from Sunday, May 27 to Sunday, June 3.
Co-chair of Wyndham City’s Reconciliation Advisory Committee, Cr Henry Barlow, said that on the first Sunday, a free community tree planting would be held on the banks of the Werribee River from 10am to midday.
On June 2, a free bush tucker session will be held at the Plaza Library in Werribee from 11am to midday, to teach participants about traditional food.
Cr Barlow said residents were also invited to attend the library on Thursday May 31 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, to hear from Rowena Price as she shares her story of discovering her hidden Aboriginal heritage.
Performer Ian Michael will also present his show HART at the Wyndham Cultural Centre on Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2. Bookings are required for all of the events, see wyndham.vic.gov.au for details.
