Raise funds and get fit

This bootcamp aims to whip you into shape and raise money for mental health.

Point Cook’s Stronglife Health and Performance gym is calling on locals to sign up for its one-hour fitness bootcamp this Saturday, followed by a barbecue, a children’s play area with jumping castle and child care, and a gift pack for every participant.

Co-owner David Chandler said the event is part of the gym’s plan to raise $5000 for Beyondblue over the month of November.

Mr Chandler said a number of the business’s trainers and members have a strong personal connection to depression, anxiety or suicide.

“We both have personal and family ties to mental illness, and have a large clientele with many intimate stories associated with the effects of mental illness. We thought it only natural to support a cause we and our clients feel close to,” he said.

“We want our team and clients to feel comfortable with the topic of mental illness and share their stories and vulnerabilities with us.”

The bootcamp is on November 10 from midday at Featherbrook Reserve, Windorah Drive, Point Cook. The class is $20, with the money going to the fundraiser.
