The state government has encouraged households doing it tough with energy bills to apply for the one-off $250 Power Saving Bonus payment, before the program ends on January 31. Households receiving payments through the Pension Concession, JobSeeker, Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance programs, or who hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card, are eligible to apply for the payment. Werribee MP Tim Pallas, Altona MP Jill Hennessy and Tarneit MP Sarah last week said that around one-third of eligible households yet to apply for the payment are located in municipalities including Wyndham, Greater Geelong and Brimbank, details: compare.energy.vic.gov.au or 1800 000 832.
