Police are investigating a fire at the Woodville shopping centre in Hoppers Crossing, which caused damage to two businesses on Saturday.

About 30 Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters attended the site, near the corner of Warringa Crescent and Willmott Drive, at 3.36am.

Firefighters wearing breathing equipment entered the centre and found a cafe “fully involved” with the blaze, with a second shop “partially involved”.

Several adjacent shops were heavily smoked-logged.

The incident was brought under control at 4.21am. There were no injuries.

Eight pumpers, a rescue unit and three specialist and support vehicles also attended the scene, with support from CFA, Victoria Police and local utility companies.
