Residents of all ages have been invited to enter a photo competition celebrating Wyndham’s beauty.

The Rotary Club of Laverton Point Cook has launched the inaugural Wyndham Photo Competition, which will be open for submissions until November 30.

Club president Tim Fuller said Wyndham council had provided $2000 in prizes for the amateur section of the contest.

Mr Fuller said the competition, which is open to Wyndham residents, was free to enter.

The theme is Wonderful Wyndham and some images from the competition will be used in an annual Rotary fundraising calendar.

So far images of beach views, wildlife, fields of canola, flowers, boats on the ocean, sunrises and sunsets have been submitted to the competition.

Williams Landing resident Mark Playdon has entered a photo of the You Yangs at sunset into the amateur section of the competition.

The competition will include categories for people in grade 6 and below, year 7 to 9 and year 10 -12.

There will also be amateur portrait, amateur landscape and amateur artistic sections, along with professional portrait, professional landscape and professional artistic categories.

The most popular picture in the competition will receive a $500 prize.

Photographs must have been taken within Wyndham, after January 1 this year.

Images submitted to the contest will be showcased on a website and on social media.

Mr Fuller said the Rotary Club was still searching for sponsorship of the professional categories.
