Petition against footpath

A petition protesting against a proposed footpath for a Wyndham Vale street has been lodged with Wyndham council.

The petition, signed by 15 people, read:

“We the undersigned protest the planned footpath in North Gateway Wyndham Vale.

“We, the residents of North Gateway and Greens Road were not consulted or given an opportunity to voice our opinions and concerns on how a footpath was going to affect our properties.

“The street already has a functional footpath on one side of the road with minimal foot traffic of approximately 10 people on a good day.

“Another footpath is not needed or wanted as it will not provide any additional utility and will inflict negative repercussions to some households.

“The council could instead address the growing problem of hooning and speeding along North Gateway by construction of speed bumps instead of constructing another unrequired footpath.”

Wyndham council noted the petition at a public meeting held in Werribee last week and will prepare a report to respond, at the next council meeting on November 30.
