St Vincent’s Care Services says there has been no confirmed case of COVID-19 on-site at its Werribee aged care home, as of this morning.

St Vincent’s Care Services chief executive Lincoln Hopper said that a staff member at the Werribee aged care service has tested positive to COVID-19.

However, Mr Hopper said that the staff member has been in self-isolation and hasn’t worked at the facility since 15 July.

“As of this morning, there is no confirmed case of COVID-19 on site,” Mr Hopper said.

“Victoria’s public health authorities have been notified and they have advised us that this is a low risk situation.”

“Regardless, as a precautionary measure, the Werribee site has been placed into full lockdown while the situation is monitored. That means that all visits are restricted until further notice.

“Testing for coronavirus for all staff and residents at the facility was completed on Sunday and we expect the results back in 72 hours. All staff will wear full PPE until the results return.

“The site’s outbreak management plan has been initiated and the entire facility will also receive an industrial deep clean.

“We’ve informed all residents, families and loved ones about what’s occurred and are providing them with daily updates. We’ve also made clear our availability to help with any support or advice they might need during this stressful time.”
