More than 40 new cases in 24 hours

Wyndham residents have been diagnosed with 43 new active cases of the coronavirus overnight.

Wyndham today recorded 519 active cases of COVID-19, compared to 476 active cases yesterday.

Wyndham has the second-highest number of active virus cases in the state, behind the Brimbank municipality, which today has 526 active cases.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), a total of 183 cases have been linked to Al-Taqwa College in Truganina.

In addition, 53 cases have been linked to the Glendale Aged Care Facility in Werribee and 23 cases have been linked to Baptcare Wyndham Lodge in Werribee.

Thirteen cases have been linked to the Linfox Warehouse in Truganina; 10 cases have been linked to StarTrack in Laverton; eight cases have been linked to Diamond Valley Pork in Laverton North; and five cases have been linked to staff at KFC Truganina.

Victoria has recorded 532 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 8696 across the state.

The overall total has increased by 515 due to 17 cases being reclassified – largely due to duplication.

Within Victoria, 154 of the new cases are linked to known outbreaks or complex cases and 378 are under investigation.

There have been six new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. They were a man in his 50s, a woman and a man in their 70s, a woman and a man in their 80s and a woman in her 90s. Five of the six were related to aged care facilities.

To date, 77 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

At the moment, 245 people with coronavirus are in Victorian hospitals, including 44 in intensive care. 3817 people have recovered from the virus.
