As Muslims entered the last few nights of Ramadan, worshippers gathered at the local Virgin Mary mosque in Hoppers Crossing to partake in nightly prayers.

Forgoing sleep, Muslims stay up until dawn to participate in significant Islamic rituals such as reading from the Qu’ran, making supplications and listening to lectures.

Mosques typically provide food, drinks and lots of coffee to enable Muslims to keep awake and concentrated.

During the month of Ramadan, members of the islamic faith refrain from eating and drinking between dawn and sunset and increase in prayers and charity.
