A mother has spoken of the terror she felt when youths threw rocks at her car in Sanctuary Lakes, smashing the vehicle’s windscreen and causing glass to fall on her daughter.

Erika Folker said she was leaving the McDonald’s on Jamieson Way about 4.20pm last Monday (February 12) when the incident occurred.

Ms Folker said as she went to drive out of the McDonald’s, she saw three youths on bicycles, who were blocking the exit.

After she asked them to move out of the way, the youths allegedly threw rocks at her car as she drove away.

The rocks smashed the rear windscreen of the vehicle, causing glass shards to shower around her two-year-old daughter, who was in the back of the car.

“I immediately jumped out of the car and opened the back door to check if my daughter was alright,” Ms Folker said.

“At that moment she was the only thing that was going through my head and I was absolutely horrified.”

Ms Folker said that her daughter was not injured by the glass, although one large piece landed about 30 centimetres from her.

Ms Folker said she immediately contacted police to report the incident.

Police confirmed they are investigating and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

One of the alleged offenders is described as Caucasian, in his mid-teens with a thin face. The other two alleged offenders are described as being of an Islander background.
