Presidents Park will explode with colour next month when the fourth annual Wyndham Holi Festival comes to town.

About 15,000 people are expected to attend the free event, which will run on March 3 from 11am-9pm and include a traditional chariot procession performed by members of the Iskcon Temple, a colour fun run, carnival rides, dancing, food and market stalls.

The traditional Hindu celebration of Holi signifies the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring in the northern hemisphere.

Victorian Cultural Association president and festival organiser Vinayakk Kolaape said the alcohol-free family-friendly event celebrated not just Indian culture, but all nationalities.

“The main objective of this event is to spread the message of peace and harmony, celebrate through the vibrant colors of the festival, and present an exquisite picture of multicultural Australia,” he said.
