The Man Walk – Werribee will host a community walk later this month which all residents have been invited to attend.

Resident Craig Emery started the walk mid-2021, while adhering to COVID-19 restrictions, to support men’s physical, social and mental health.

The Man Walk originally began in 2018 in Kiama, New South Wales and has grown into an international movement, giving men aged 16 and over an opportunity to walk and talk in a positive and inclusive environment.

“The concept of the walk is to focus on men and provide them an environment where they feel that, if they wanted to, they have an opportunity to talk through any issues they feel they have without any fear or worry,” Mr Emery said.

“Mental health is vital to us all, and any environment that encourages us to open is always encouraged.”

While the regular “Man Walks” are usually for males only, the upcoming community walk will be open to all residents.

“We also know that we are part of a wider community, and the special community walks are put on to welcome everyone to the friendly environment we have, and for them to understand the value of the weekly walks,” Mr Emery said.

“There is no mystery to The Man Walk – it’s very simple.

“Just walk, talk and support.”

The community walk will start at 7.30am on Saturday, December 18 at Notorious Café, Watton Street, Werribee before travelling through Wyndham Park, along the Werribee River towards Chirnside Oval and back to the café.
