Man charged after fatal Princes Freeway collision

A man has been charged by police following a fatal multi-vehicle collision in Laverton earlier this year.

It is believed a Ford Ranger utility, towing a trailer, was travelling outbound on the Princes Freeway when it collided nose-to-tail with three other cars near Kororoit Creek Road around 5.50am on April 21.

The collision caused a white Kia sedan to veer across the freeway, where it was struck by two trucks.

A 57-year-old Caroline Springs man, who was the driver of the Kia, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

Major collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 59-year-old man with dangerous driving causing death.

The Mount Martha man has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 13.
