Lighting up Cowies Hill

Wyndham locals are being invited to contribute ideas for themes, colours and days of significance they would like displayed on the Cowie’s Hill Water Tower in Tarneit.

As part of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program, Wyndham council received funding to light and activate the water tower to create a new focal point in Tarneit’s landscape.

Located at the corner of Annaliese Street and Pauline Way, the Cowie’s Hill Water Tower sits on top of a small hill and is a prominent piece of local infrastructure visible from all across Tarneit.

Wyndham council say the project will provide an opportunity for local creatives to collaborate with council to bring the tower to life will use the feedback to generate a program of projections for the water tower.

“The lighting of Cowie’s Hill Water Tower is an imaginative placemaking and urban renewal project that will inspire our residents, and help our community take an active role in shaping our shared spaces,” Wyndham council creative city portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud said.

“Our community will have the opportunity to influence the concepts and themes that shape

the lighting designs and by doing this people will be able to help us with the beautification

and reinvigoration of Tarneit.”

Residents are encouraged to provide contributions via the loop until feedback closes on Sunday, June 19.

The project will be delivered in partnership with the Tarneit Revitalisation Board, Greater

Western Water and Melbourne Water with $150,000 in funding from the Victorian Government.
