Laverton arson

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man after an incident of arson which occurred in Laverton on March 2.

At 12.45am, a man entered the Chirnside Crescent Reserve, collected a number of large tree branches and used an accelerant to light a fire.

The offender continued to add more branches to the fire while screaming in a foreign language before leaving the park, towards Chirnside Crescent.

Police have released images of a man whom they believe may be able to assist in their inquiries.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, approximately 183cm tall and with short hair.

At the time of the offence he was carrying a white plastic food container.
