Police believe a gang of males may be responsible for a series of violent robberies and armed robberies committed in Wyndham this week.

Two of the robberies occurred in Tarneit and Truganina on Tuesday.

Later that day, around 11.30pm, a man was walking along Overton Road in Williams Landing, when he was approached by two males.

The offenders assaulted the victim and produced a knife before stealing his mobile phone.

The second armed robbery occurred around 11.15pm on Wednesday, along Derrimut Road in Tarneit.

A man stopped under a tree, due to the rain, when he was approached by a group of up to seven males.

The group made threats before producing a knife and demanded the man hand over his mobile phone.

Three of the offenders also assaulted the victim before stealing his mobile.

The group, all perceived to be African in appearance, ran from the scene along Derrimut Road.

The victim ran to a nearby service station where he raised the alarm. He received minor injuries during the attack.

The victim, Harsha Ravipati, 22, told Channel Nine that he was walking to work when the armed robbery occurred.

He said one of the offenders asked him for the time, before the others appeared.

“I just came in and they started bashing me,” he said.

“Three of them were holding me and three of them were beating me.

“It was ruthless. I was helpless, I couldn’t do anything.

“One of the guys had a knife. He was about to stab me, (and said) I’ll stab you and kill you if you make any noise.”

Detectives are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who was in the areas the robberies occurred in.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
