Al-Taqwa College in Truganina has been selected as one of three national winners of a competition aimed at encouraging families to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
As part of the Coles Fresh Rainbow Challenge, schools were invited to create videos showcasing the Rainbow Challenge.
Al-Taqwa pupils made a video featuring a prototype fresh fruit and vegie delivery drone.
The school will receive a $5000 prize, which will go towards supporting healthy eating initiatives, including a weekly breakfast club.
The pupils will also receive a cooking demonstration from Coles’ professional development chefs.
Al-Taqwa assistant head of teacher and student services grade 6, Obayda Kannouj, said children at the college enjoyed creating their video.
“We used the big idea of drone delivery to show how easy the challenge to eat all the colours of the rainbow is,” she said.
“The process of creating the video made us realise how receptive the students are to eating more fruits and vegetables and they were so excited to play a starring role in the production.”
The two other winning schools in the competition were Our Lady of Fatima in Rosebud and Calderwood Christian School in New South Wales.
Coles chief operating officer Greg Davis said the creativity shown by the schools was “fantastic”.
