BK’s Gymnastics Hoppers Crossing has reopened its classes for children, as COVID-19 restrictions ease in metropolitan Melbourne.

The classes started on Monday this week, with bookings essential.

BK’s Gymnastics Hoppers Crossing, which is part of the Belgravia Group, offers classes for pupils as young as two years old.

Belgravia Kids Gymnastics chief executive Mark Rendell said he was expecting some eager little faces at the sessions.

“We’ve been eagerly awaiting this day as it is so important for kids to get back to some sense of normality,” Mr Rendell said.

“It’s key for their physical development and reaching key motor skill milestones and it’s also important for their mental health and social skills.

“After such a long period with no sports or organised group activities, it’s great to be able to welcome kids back.”

The classes will focus on getting kids out of the house and back into learning fundamental gymnastics skills; creating opportunities for youngsters to play and interact with others from a safe distance; and kickstarting children’s physical and mental activity after months at home,

“The lockdown period has been particularly challenging for the little ones who aren’t of school age yet and not at day care, as they haven’t had the opportunity to re-connect with other kids and organised physical activity,” Mr Rendell said.

“So we expect to see quite a few younger kids taking part.”

There are classes suitable for children aged two to five, five to seven and eight and over.

BK’s Gymnastics is located at 40 Callistemon Drive, Hoppers Crossing.
