Hard work has paid off for 12-year-old Tyrese Culhane.
The Iramoo Primary School pupil was recently selected in the School Sport Victoria under-12s state rugby league team to compete in August at the School Sport Australia Championship in Brisbane.
Jeanetta Rodwell, of School Sports Victoria, said players were put through their
paces during the trial process to make the state team.
“It has been a great performance by Tyrese following a selection process to make the final team,” Ms Rodwell said.
“Many past School Sport Victoria team members have gone on to compete at national and international competitions including the Olympic Games, world championships and the Commonwealth Games.
“Here’s hoping that Tyrese and his Victorian teammates can achieve their personal goals at a national level to win the Australian title and that Tyrese may be representing Australia in the years to come.”
