Jayne Todd calls herself a corporate escapee. She gave up on the corporate world two years ago and, with no experience in hospitality or food, launched Preserved and Pickled with husband Stuart.
Preserved and Pickled offers a range of preserves, jams and chutneys handmade from local fruit grown sustainably with French- inspired techniques.
In August last year, they also launched one of their big successes: French-style pates with rabbit, pork and duck.
The company moved into its first commercial premises, on Dunlop Road in Hoppers Crossing, last month.
Mrs Todd said the business was proudly based in Wyndham.
“When we were looking for somewhere to open our store, we found places all over but really wanted to be here,” she said.
“It’s amazing how much the community backing has made a difference. It’s about hard work, but we’ve been receiving a lot of community support, too.”
Preserved and Pickled won a Wyndham Business Award last year in the category of new and emerging business.
Free nominations are now open for this year’s awards, to be presented in 16 categories at an August 26 presentation evening at the Encore Events Centre. Click here to nominate.
