It’s easier being green

Are you keen to keep your local area clean and green?

Wyndham council has installed three cleaning cabinets along Werribee River to help residents do a quick clean-up, if they feel like helping the environment or creating a tidier outdoor space.

The cleaning cabinets can be found in Presidents Park, Chirnside Park and at Werribee South.

The March theme of the council’s Green Living Series is ‘Keeping Wyndham Clean’.

As part of the series, which will be ongoing throughout the year, an E-Waste Drop Off Event will be held at the Arndell Park Community Centre in Truganina on Saturday, March 20 from 10am – 1pm.

Residents will be able to take electronic waste such as televisions, computers, stereos, printers – plus kitchen, bathroom and outdoor appliances – to the centre, to be recycled free of charge.

Wyndham’s climate futures and environment portfolio holder, Cr Robert Szatkowski, also encouraged residents to consider joining one of the volunteer-run clean-up groups which operate in Wyndham.

Cr Szatkowski said the groups usually run a clean-up session about once a month.

He said that groups such as Love Our Street, Wyndham Litter Warriors, Beach Patrol and Werribee River Association were always looking for more people to help out.

Any residents interested in using one of the cleaning cabinets can contact the council at wastewise@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
