- 2400 SQUARE METRES
- 14 BEDROOMS WITH OWN EN SUITES
- SEVEN-CAR GARAGE
- HELIPAD
Tarneit is getting its very own Taj Mahal – of sorts. Wyndham councillor Intaj Khan has unveiled plans for a 2400-square-metre mansion, complete with helipad and tennis court.
Dubbed Khan Mansion, the property will include 14 bedrooms, each with its own en suite, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, movie theatre, gym, seven-car garage, two meeting rooms, two lounge rooms, a library and a tennis court – all on a four-hectare block at Derrimut Road.

“I spend most of my time in Tarneit and I think it’s a great area,” Cr Khan said. “Why would you want to go to Brighton or Toorak and have a small property when you could have 10 acres 25 kilometres from the city?
“This will increase the area’s value and that of the Rothwell estate, which is under construction nearby.
“I want to see other people do the same in the west. The west is the changing face of Melbourne – the Wyndham Marina has just opened and there’s so much happening.”
Cr Khan, the council’s economic portfolio- holder, is awaiting approval to install a helipad on the grounds and is considering installing a waterslide for the outdoor pool.
“I have visitors coming from India and they can stay in the house and see the city [via helicopter],” he said. “In the future, I will have my own [helicopter], otherwise I can rent one.”
Construction on the property will begin by the end of this year and is expected to take 12 months.
Cr Khan, who is founder and chief executive of the Western Institute of Technology, estimates that once complete, Khan Mansion will be valued at $9.5 million and be the largest residential property in Wyndham and possibly in the west.
Real Estate Institute of Victoria spokesman Paul Bird said that while it was impossible to confirm if the property would indeed be the largest in Wyndham, it “certainly appears to be larger than anything we at the REIV have on our records”.
The plans were revealed a month after Cr Khan told Star Weekly of his vision for Wyndham to have an exclusive housing estate with “acre-sized” blocks.
He wants to see developers create another luxury housing estate modelled on Sanctuary Lakes, with large blocks enabling families to have tennis courts and pools, and keep horses.
He said too many new Wyndham estates were offering smaller blocks, and he was keen to see more variety for discerning buyers with cash to spend.
