Christmas items, knitted goods and handmade clothing are being sold at Pacific Werribee this week to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).

The Werribee Ladies for Kids Auxiliary for the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne will have a stall at the shopping centre until Sunday, December 5.

Auxiliary group volunteers, including Heather Brett, are running the stall, which will feature festively-themed ornaments, tea towels and t-shirts with pictures on them.

Mrs Brett said there would also be beanies for $1 each; poncho sets with matching skirts and beanies for children aged up to about six or seven years old; and “spunky” dolls with quirky haircuts.

“Everything is homemade and beautiful,” she said.

“We have lots of football rugs, beanies, teddies and patchwork crocheted rugs.

“One lady has made knitted blankets out of pure wool, they are about the size of a single bed and just stunning.”

Mrs Brett said the auxiliary group was also planning to host a fundraising stall at the Wyndham Cultural Centre in Werribee later this month, including on December 19.

She said the auxiliary group usually raised about $50,000 per year for the RCH but that COVID-19 has impacted upon its fundraising ability across the past two years.

Mrs Brett said she liked hosting the stalls because people who have a connection to the RCH come up and talk to her.

She also has regular customers who attend the stalls every year.

“We would love lots of people to come because we have lots to sell,” she said.
