Hoppers Crossing man charged for meddling with trains

A man has been charged by police after he allegedly disrupted Werribee Line train services on purpose.

Rail authorities and police had been investigating reports that a man had caused train services to stop through various means since March.

A 55-year-old man was arrested when investigators executed a search warrant at his Hoppers Crossing residence on Tuesday, August 12.

As part of the search officers seized golf clubs and three nail guns.

The 55-year-old was subsequently charged with a string of offences related to the railway investigation as well as several unrelated incidents.

Charges include three counts of trespassing on Public Transport Victoria property, two counts of damaging trains, two counts of obstructing trains, two counts of threats to inflict serious injury and trespassing on a rail corridor.

He has bailed to face Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on September 9.
