Hoppers Crossing fire believed to be suspicious

A fire at a Hoppers Crossing shop early this morning is being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters arrived at the scene in Alexandra Street at about 1.10am on Wednesday, June 14 after receiving multiple calls about a fire in a two storey shop.

The first fire truck arrived with four minutes to find the bottom floor of the building already well alight.

Everyone associated with shop was accounted for by the time fire crews arrived.

Twenty five firefighters wearing breathing apparatus spent 15 minutes battling the blaze before it was brought under control.

While the cause of the is still being investigated, firefighters believe it to be suspicious.

Crews remain at the scene to extinguish the fire and overhaul the property.
