A distinctive medieval-style Werribee property has gone on the market.

This Wedge Street South bluestone and sandstone property has dragons in the custom-made leadlight windows, gargoyles on the walls and handcrafted doors, cornices and architraves.

Werribee builder Shane Hunt and his wife Karen Incledon spent years designing and building the property prior to Mr Hunt’s sudden and tragic death in 2008.

The design was inspired by European architecture and was also a nod to Ms Incledon’s Welsh background.

Ms Incledon said she hoped to attract a buyer who would want to complete the labour of love, which still needs some finishing touches.

“He [Shane] put the plans together and started to build this. Every stone and brick has gone up by hand,” Ms Incledon said.

“I worked with him, side by side, and we used to come out here very early in the morning and lay a couple of stones [before he went to work]. It was a very big project and it’s been going for a long time.

“When he died there was a lot of stuff left for me to do … it was a tough decision for me to make to sell, but at the end of the day I can’t finish it.

“Eighty per cent of the work is done and it’s at lock-up stage, so it’s basically the finishing touches [that need to be done].”

The 656 square metre block also includes a weatherboard property at the front.

It has an asking price between $685,000 and $715,000. The selling agent is PRD Nationwide Werribee.
