Historic boatshed for sale

By Alesha Capone

A Werribee South boatshed, which has been in the same family for 40 years, is now on the market.

A licence for the property, which is located at 405 Cunninghams Road, Baileys Beach adjoining Campbells Cove, is being offered for sale through Reliance Real Estate in Point Cook.

Reliance senior sales professional Donna Carson said the boatshed also came complete with a boat and slipway, which is believed to date from the 1920s to 1930s.

“The boat is such a historical adornment to the property, her name is ‘Possum’ and she is very charismatic,” Ms Carson said.

Ms Carson said the boatshed, which was constructed in 1946, has lovely “ rustic, old-world charm”.

She said the boatshed would be ideal for someone who wanted to enjoy the beach, go fishing, watch the boats across the bay or just simply take in birdlife.

“It’s about enjoying the sea-breeze and open air, it’s a place you would spend time de-stressing,” she said.

Ms Carson said potential local and eastern suburb buyers were showing good interest in the shack – she returned to work after the Labour Day long weekend to find five emails inquiring about the property.

Ms Carson said the boatshed was of historic significance to the Wyndham area, with number 405 being one of the original boatsheds.

“I’m thrilled to be working with this property and as a local, and someone who has been an agent for 21 years, it’s a wonderful opportunity,” she said.

The owners of the boatshed are asking $154,000.
