Heathdale Christian College students will bring one of Broadway’s most iconic musicals to life this month.
A cast of 42 students across years 6 to 12 will take to the stage at the Wyndham Cultural Centre to perform in Fiddler on the Roof, which tells the tale of Tevye and his five daughters.
The show’s producer, Kristie Baker said work on the production started a year ago, with students rehearsing since August last year. She said the cast and 25 students performing backstage roles represented the biggest participation by year 12 students in a school show.
“We wanted a musical that had a lot of strong characters,” she said.
Among the stars will be Louise Gaul, who is taking part in her fourth Heathdale musical.
Louise is playing Tevye’s wife, Golde.
“I’ve loved her,” Louise said. “She’s definitely pushed me in my general confidence, because she’s quite bold.
“The high [of performing] is one of the best feelings you can have.”
There will be three performances of Fiddler on the Roof across Friday and Saturday, July 21 and 22, at the Wyndham Cultural Centre.
Tickets cost $25 for adults or $18 for concession and are available here
