The Sanctuary Lakes Point Cook Probus Club celebrated its fifth anniversary last week.
Club members gathered at The Brook Point Cook for the event, which included a birthday cake and guest speakers from the Rotary Club of Laverton Point Cook.
Probus club secretary Gaye Edmonds said the group, which is for retired people, started in October 2014.
“Local Rotarians Fay Lun, Kevin Birtles and Ian Brown decided it would be good thing to have a local Probus,” Ms Edmonds said.
The club now has 120 members, who participate in activities including day-trips to places such as National Gallery and Supreme Court, events, lunches, excursions, overseas trips and listening to monthly guest speakers.
“The guest speakers are often very inspiring,” Ms Edmonds said.
Guest speakers at the club have included police officers, lawyers, veterans and young entrepreneurs.
Ms Edmonds said the Probus Club, which is auspiced by the Rotary Club of Laverton Point Cook, gave members the opportunity to participate in social interaction and activities with others in the community.
“It’s a beautiful group of people who enjoy fun, fellowship and friendship together and the committee is great,” she said.
