Friday Air Force flypast for Point Cook

Point Cook residents are no strangers to military aircraft flying overhead, but tomorrow morning will be unique even for them.

An Air Force Heritage aircraft from No.100 Squadron (100SQN) will conduct a flying display over RAAF Base Point Cook at about 10.45am on Friday September 22 in support of the Italian Air Force Academy ‘Air Cruise’ visit to Australia.

Operating out of RAAF Base Point Cook and Temora Aviation Museum, in Temora New South Wale,s the No 100 Squadron operates Air Force’s Fleet of Heritage Aircraft which are used to support public events, commemorate those who have fallen in service of the country, promote the RAAF and inspire future generations.

The No 100 Squadron was reformed in January 2021 to coincide with the Air Force Centenary.

While scheduled for 10.45am, flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability meaning the flypast could be cancelled short notice.

Noise and the environmental concerns have been taken into account in planning for the flypast, but those wanting further information on aircraft noise and current flying activities should visit www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise or call 1300 DEFENCE (1300 333 362).

Further information about 100SQN aircraft can be found at: https://www.airforce.gov.au/community/event-participation/air-force-heritage-aircraft-fleet
