Flowers power positivity

A community project launched by florist Janice Le Sueur is making smiles blossom.

Miss Le Sueur, who runs The Floral Point in the Point Cook Town Centre, has been leaving free posies of flowers around local streets for the past two weeks, in an effort to bring some positivity to the area, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues.

Miss Le Sueur also attaches cards, bearing a happy message, to the bouquets.

“I’ve just been thinking and praying about everyone, I thought people are getting so depressed and upset – I just wanted to leave something to bring a bit of hope and happiness in the community,” she said.

Miss Le Sueur said she usually left the posies at locations around Point Cook’s main streets, including at places accessed by the public, such as bus stops.

She said she had received some lovely feedback from residents and customers, about the posy project.

“Everybody loves the idea,” she said.

Miss Le Sueur said that it was “business as usual” at The Floral Point for the time being, but she was taking precautionary measures including social distancing.

She said that business had “dropped off a little bit” since the pandemic began, but remained steady.

“There are still lots of birthdays, quite a few new babies being born whom people can’t visit – but they can still send flowers to the families – and funerals,” she said.
