A driver involved in a hit-run collision allegedly blew more than five times the legal alcohol limit in Werribee on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services received a Triple Zero (000) call following a collision on Market Street about 4pm.

The 37-year-old driver allegedly drove away from the scene of the accident. However, the driver whose vehicle he had hit followed the 37-year-old to his home address and notified police.

Police attended the man’s address and he was taken to a police station to be breath-tested – shocking officers when he returned a reading of 0.265.

The man’s licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and he is expected to be charged on summons for drink driving and other traffic-related matters.

The man’s vehicle will also be impounded for 30 days.
