Attempted armed robbery in Tarneit

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Tarneit convenience store yesterday evening, in which an employee was threatened with a weapon.

Investigators have been told an unknown man attended the Tarneit Road business around 5.15pm.

The man threatened an employee with an edged weapon and made demands for cash.

The employee moved to the rear of the store and the offender fled empty-handed.

Police conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the man.

The man is perceived to be African in appearance with a thin build, about 187cm tall, and was wearing a black jumper with a grey hood and a black face covering.
