A Williams Landing family is bringing spectacular spookiness and smiles to the suburb by arranging daily scenes in their front yard, featuring a skeleton named Anna and other props.
Natalie and Max Mitchell, along with their sons Maxwell, 12, Roman, nine, and Harvey, six, have been arranging Halloween countdown decorations and displays for the past five years.
“But this is the first time we’ve done scenes out the front, we were spurred on by the ongoing lockdown, helping spread some joy to others with ‘Anna’s Antics’,” Ms Mitchell said.
“We’re lovingly known as ‘The Halloween House’ in Williams Landing.”
This year, the family will also host a fundraiser for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal on October 31 between 4-9pm.
The family has a sign-up sheet on their fridge to write down ideas for the various adventures of Anna, who was named after a main character from the Frozen films.
“It’s wonderful to see what the kids come up with, sometimes is something super basic that has the most impact,” Ms Mitchell said.
“I also enjoy taking her (Anna) in the car and watching people look in at the passenger seat with quizzical looks on their faces as Anna rides shotgun.”
She said that many residents enjoy walking or driving past their Fantail Crescent property each day and having their photos taken with Anna.
“People also love and enjoy seeing my husband’s murals that surround our home, the Jokers on the garage door are always a talking point,” Ms Mitchell said.
“We’d just like to say thank you to the Williams Landing and Point Cook Community for welcoming Anna’s Antic’s into their daily lives, we hope that her adventures bring a smile to their faces as we navigate these difficult and trying times.”
