Police investigating the death of a Werribee woman whose body was discovered on Wednesday, are not treating it as suspicious.

The woman’s body was found at the Unison apartment complex in Cottrell Street after police conducted a welfare check at 11.40am on May 31.

A young child, believed to be the woman’s son, was found unharmed at the premises.

The boy was taken to hospital as a precaution and is now being cared for by relatives.

The welfare check followed neighbours reporting cries coming from the apartment in the days prior.

Detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit are still investigating, but do not believe foul play was involved.

A post-mortem determining the exact cause of the woman’s death is still to be conducted.
