A community safety expo at Wyndham next month will be aimed at impressing upon people the importance of road safety and ways of preventing crime and improving personal safety.

The free event will feature more than 20 exhibitors, including Victoria Police and emergency service agencies.

Victoria Police north-west region crime prevention officer Craig McDonald says the expo will bring experts and agencies together to help make Wyndham a safer community.

“My part, on behalf of Victoria Police, will be presenting two workshops discussing personal safety, home security and competent living for the elderly,” he said.

“We’ll wrap it all up into one big package, discussing how to make your house a harder target, not too attractive for crooks.”

There will also be a discussion on vehicle safety.

“That’s a real issue in this region,” Leading Senior Constable McDonald said.

Free fittings of anti-theft screws for number plates and free child seat restraint checks will also be available.

Family-friendly activities and demonstrations, along with interactive activities, including face-painting for children, will also be part of the expo.

The expo will be held at the Encore Events Centre, Hoppers Crossing, from 10am until 3pm on October 18.
