College upgrade complete

A $13.06 million upgrade of Saltwater P-9 College in Point Cook has been completed.

Altona MP Jill Hennessy announced the news yesterday.

Under the project, specialist buildings, a sports oval and multi-courts have been built at the school.

After opening its doors for pupils in grade prep to grade 6 during 2019, the new facilities mean Saltwater College will be able to enrol year 7 students in 2022.

Year 8 students will be accepted in 2023 and year 9 students from 2024.

“We’re ensuring local students have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and every child is given every chance to succeed,” Ms Hennessy said.

“This is such a welcomed announcement for the whole community, local families can now enjoy great new facilities as their children approach their senior years of schooling at Saltwater P-9 College.”

In the past seven years, the state government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools.
