Ladies, it’s time to lift your game – your sporting game, that is.
Figures from Wyndham council reveal that only 0.2 per cent of football players across the west are women, with similarly low levels of participation in almost every sport.
Wyndham council has teamed up with six other councils in the west and Women’s Health West to develop a regional action plan to boost women’s participation in sport and recreation.
Wyndham council sports development portfolio holder Peter Maynard said women of the west deserved equal opportunities to enjoy the social interaction and physical and mental benefits taking part in sport could provide.
