Sweet dreams are made of bliss – that’s the tasty prospect in store for a Hoppers Crossing event next month.
Sweet Street Desserts, run by 25-year-old Joey Spiteri, will celebrate its first year in operation with a community fun day.
Mr Spiteri said that he would donate $1 from every purchase made on the day to Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
He said the event would feature face painting, giveaways, a jumping castle, free samples, food-eating competitions and a decorate your own funnel cake competition. Some of the activities will offer participants the option of making a gold coin donation to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Mr Spiteri said he opened Sweet Street Desserts after travelling around the US for three months and experiencing the different foods on offer. That adventure inspired him to turn his love of food into a career.
Mr Spiteri said he felt lucky to operate a business within his local community.
“Whether it’s customers stopping by to try desserts or just chatting and meeting people, ultimately I get to do what I love daily,” he said.
“I hope people feel that love when they have my desserts.”
The community fun day will be held from 1pm on Sunday, June 2.
