Truganina-based business Branthem has won an international award for innovation in branded entertainment.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, the only business awards program to recognise innovation in the workplace in all 29 nations of the Asia-Pacific region, have named Branthem as a bronze winner in the category, along with three fellow winners from China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

The Stevie Awards, which received more than 1000 nominations this year, will celebrate the award recipients during an online awards ceremony on September 22.

The founder and director of Branthem, Dene Menzel, said this year was the first time she had applied to the awards.

Branthem, a branding and marketing agency, also won a new and emerging award at last year’s Wyndham Business Awards.

Ms Menzel said Branthem specialised in sonic brand design, the practice of using auditory elements – such as music – to brand a product or service.

Ms Menzel said Branthem was a combination of the words “brand” and “anthem”.

She said that music could connect customers to a brand, and also be used to identify a business, like a logo.

“For example, everyone remembers the Aeroplance Jelly song and the Vegemite song,” she said.

“My passion is in writing, I love writing music for businesses.”

Ms Menzel said Branthem has created music for businesses in Wyndham, including the Proven Group and Back on Track Fitness in Hoppers Crossing.

Ms Menzel said that within the next fortnight, she would also be launching the Music is Life podcast.

“It’s a really feel-good podcast about everything music,” she said.
