Two men arrested in relation to a series of alleged commercial burglaries, including a Werribee South man, are facing more than 50 charges each.
Police executed warrants in Cunninghams Road, Werribee South and Maidstone Street, Altona yesterday.
A 28-year-old Werribee South man and a 38-year-old Altona man were arrested and interviewed by police.
The men were arrested in relation to a series of 31 burglaries where small businesses such as laundromats, milk bars, cafes and post offices were targeted from March to June this year.
It is alleged the offenders would attend the premises on stolen motorcycles or in a stolen car, break in and steal cash and cigarettes.
The burglaries occurred in Altona, Altona Meadows, Altona North, Williamstown, Seaford, Caulfield, Rowville, Bannockburn, Highton, Croydon, Daylesford, Woodend, Trentham, Point Cook and Bungaree.
Both of the men arrested are facing more than 50 charges each for aggravated burglary, burglary, theft and traffic offences.
They faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday evening and have been remanded until June 24.
The investigation is ongoing.
