Wyndham volunteers will be tin-rattling and selling coffees this week to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
More than 100 firefighters and volunteers will take to the streets on Friday for the annual Point Cook Country Fire Authority fundraiser.
Point Cook CFA volunteer Michael Krejany said firefighters and other volunteers are hoping to raise about $50,000 from across Wyndham this year.
“Our work with the Royal Children’s is particularly appealing to me because I’m a surgical nurse unit manager at Werribee Mercy Hospital, and I have kids come through … we really need to support that area,” Mr Krejany said.
“The Royal Children’s is one of the only tertiary hospitals that deals with children 100 per cent, and it deals with all problems concerning kids.”

Meanwhile, mother and daughter Peta and Rebecca Santullo, who run Point Cook cafe Babycino on Main, hope to raise more than $2000 in their fundraising attempt on Thursday.
The pair will set up a coffee cart on Main Street, with the proceeds of every coffee sold going towards the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Fox FM street team will also be there during the day, and there will be a face painter and a balloon artist for children out and about for school holidays.
“Kids are our future, and we see this as a worthy cause,” Peta said.
“The Royal Children’s Hospital shows you where the money goes.”
More than $291 million has been raised through the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal since it began in 1931.
