A Royal Australian Air Force C-130J Hercules transport aircraft will be in operation at the RAAF Base Point Cook on both today and Sunday.

The aircraft, from Number 37 Squadron, will be supporting Australian Defence Force training in Port Phillip Bay.

The training sessions will run from 6.45am until 5pm.

Flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather and operational availability.

As such, this flying activity may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

The C-130J Hercules is a medium-sized tactical air-lifter which can deliver cargo to airfields with short unsurfaced runways, and airdrop cargo and paratroops by parachute.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Information on aircraft noise and current flying activities is available at www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise or by calling 1300 DEFENCE (1300 333 362).
