24-hour cycle raises nearly $12,000

A 24-hour cycling event has raised nearly $12,000 for Cancer Council Victoria.

Eight teams jumped on spin bikes at In Balance Fitness in Werribee at 5pm on October 16, and spent the next 24 hours riding for charity, raising $11,843.

The winning team, K04, raised $5088 alone.

Group exercise co-ordinator Michelle McDonald (pictured, front) said the gym was thrilled with the effort and may turn the fundraiser into an annual event.

“It was phenomenal,” Ms McDonald said. “We have been blown away by the total raised.

“We were thinking $2000 or $3000 would have been brilliant.

“The weekend was tough, but good fun. We had instructors the whole time, with special themes.”
