Werribee woman woken by intruder

Werribee police are searching for an intruder who woke a woman in her Parklands Grove, Werribee, house in the middle of the night.

Police believe the man, described as being Caucasian, 168 centimetres and “very skinny”, entered the house through an unlocked door about 3.30am on August 29.

He disturbed the female occupant, 37, who found him rifling through a bookshelf.

He escaped and was seen leaving the area in a small, white hatchback car with false number plates, police said.

Police said they had been told he was seen knocking on neighbouring doors before the incident.

He was wearing a black puffer jacket, white peak cap, and white and grey camouflage pants, police said.
